Demolition: World Class Orchard!
Friday, 16 April 2010
orchardmanda.jpgJohn Orchard showed he is still the king of the hill on Absolute Adrenaline “Demolition”, with a hard fought but emphatic victory over world class Odje Manda.

The likeable Frenchman came looking for a spectacular KO victory but instead he found himself playing catch up throughout this 6 round contest. Orchard looked sharp and used his full range of skills to frustrate his opponent.

Both men scored well on occasion but it was Orchard who connected more often and also forced Manda to miss on a regular basis.

That said this was a highly skilled match up that was enjoyed from start to finish by the knowledgable audience. The punches were solid and the combinations dazzling with Orchard kicking to the head on a regular basis as Manda tried to close the range down and work to the body.

A unanimous decision went to Orchard but Manda showed that he belongs in the premier league. Expect to see both men involved in world title tilts this year. Manda must surely be in the top 5 contenders now whilst Orchard will look to unify the middleweight division by adding the ISKA and WAKO-pro crowns to his IKF, WKU & CSW belts.

Demolition: Rowley's Revenge!
Friday, 16 April 2010
rowleyrobinson.jpgScott Rowley gained revenge over Aaron Robinson with a spectacular 6th round KO in their battle for the vacant IKF British Welterweight title.

Robinson had previously Ko’d Rowley in the 1st round and the rematch had been a long time coming.

Both men looked completely ready for the challenge and it was Robinson who set the early pace, skirting the ring and landing at will. Rowley planted his feet and steadily closed down the angles but was always playing catch up. By round 5 it was clear that Rowley would need to start putting the pressure on and that is exactly what happened. Robinson began to show slight fatigue, which affected his concentration, and early in round 6 he paid the price as a right hand followed by a slick 4-punch combination sent him crashing to the canvas. It looked to be over but at the count of 7 he struggled up only to lurch forward face first and be counted out.

This was an emphatic victory for Rowley who takes the British title at his 3rd attempt.

Demolition: Cornick V Davis - A Classic!
Friday, 16 April 2010
cornickdavis.jpgAlex Davis stepped in at 48hours notice to face James Cornick but was hardly a "stand in" as he took a close victory over the Bournemouth fighter.

This match up oozed class from the opening bell with Davis (14-1) looking classy and Cornick hunting him down with his usual ferocity.

Both men were at the absolute top of their game as they traded, moved, defended then traded again throughout this 6 round encounter.

Davis' Kick and punch combinations came mainly from the backfoot whilst Cornick never stopped coming forward and punishing Davis to the body.

A standing ovation for both fighters at the final bell saw a split Decision go to Davis.

You couldn't have argued either way as it was such a great and close fight, and it must surely be re-matched for a version of the British title over 10 rounds!

Demolition: Whittam Is Champion!
Friday, 16 April 2010
whittampenny.jpgJohn Whittam collected his first title belt with an emphatic 4th round stoppage of James Penny (TS Kick - Stevenage).

There was no stopping Whittam from the opening bell as he dazzled the audience with his range of combination techniques. Penny was right in the fight for the 1st round and the size and style of both men was almost identical. But it was clear from the 2nd that Penny was struggling with the pace and as the round progressed he was getting caught with more and more shots.

It wasn't over by any means as both men took shots to give them but it was Whittam who looked to be more effective and in the 3rd round that became even more evident. Even so Penny rallied towards the back end of the round with what turned out to be his last hurrah.

The 4th saw Whittam come straight out for the finish. Backing Penny up he delivered a brutal combination that sent the Stevenage man to the canvas. He was up at the count of 7 with Whittam straight back on him. As he lurched into the ropes the referee jumped in just as the towel came in from the corner.

This was an awesome display from the ever improving John Whittam who moves on to make a quick first defence of his title in Rochester next month.

Demolition: Alexander Wins - Just!
Friday, 16 April 2010
alexandervalencia.jpgDean Alexander & Norwegian Mads Valencia gave us a fantastic battle that was dominated by the Englishman but showed that it's never over 'til it's over!

Valencia showed great skill and heart throughout but it was Alexander who set the pace and increased it as the rounds wore on.

Constant exchanges saw both men taking strong shots and there was no let up in the action at any time. But it was Valencia playing catch up, despite his barrage of punches. For every 3 he delivered he was hit with six but he kept on coming.

Out for the last Valencia put every ounce of energy he had into a stoppage victory but Alexander wanted one of his own and a trade off resulted in both men expending a mass of energy.

30 seconds from the end, Valencia connected with a huge shot followed by several more and Alexander was down. He struggled up and held on tight as Valencia looked to finish.

Just as Alexander looked to be sinking to the canvas again, the bell went to save him.

An absolutely fantastic match up that had everything - but at the end only one winner in Dean Alexander!

Demolition: Hard Man Hardiman!
Friday, 16 April 2010

crehanhardiman.jpgRobbie Crehan lost his unbeaten record but delivered the fight of his short career against Dale Hardiman (Storm Gym Luton) under MMA rules.

This match up always promised carnage as both men like to trade, and an early night was on the cards either way.

The early exchanges were even and the audience shuddered at the shots being delivered but neither man seemed affected as the fight went to ground.

Demolition: Kerr Is King!
Friday, 16 April 2010
kerrclark.jpgThe local MMA match up between Andy Kerr (Team Bulldog) & Dom Clark (Gladiator Academy) turned into a surprising slugfest. With both men more comfortable on the ground and both coming off losses, it was expected that they would stay in their comfort zones but we could'nt have been more wrong.

Clark seemed to have improved greatly especially stood up but he did have a habit of hanging his chin out, which Kerr duly obliged by hitting it.

The trade off's were exciting and even and when they went to the floor it was just as exciting with both men trying a variety of techniques and never keeping still.

It was Kerr who pretty much dominated on the ground but Clark managed to nail him solidly, even from his back. There was no let up in the action throughout and the skills on the ground found Clark secured by rear naked choke and he had no option but to tap.

A great contest with two improving fighters. On the day though, it was Kerr who was better!

Demolition: King Stakes His Claim!
Friday, 16 April 2010
kinggrant.jpgShaun King continued his unbeaten streak with a conclusive points victory over Ben Grant (Aspire - Salisbury).

To be truthful, former Area title challenger Grant had the skills to secure this one but never really got to grips with the hungry King, who came at him from the opening bell and never stopped coming. The Bournemouth fighter just seemed to get stronger and more hostile as the fight went on and Grant withdrew into his shell a little bit, falling behind with each combination.

At the final bell there was only one winner by unanimous decision - Shaun King.

King now stakes his claim for a title shot against the winner of Audrius Budrhys and Carl Mallinson in May

Demolition: Excellent Ellick!
Friday, 16 April 2010
bealeellick.jpgRikki Beale's 1st title shot ended in disaster as he seemed to sleep his way through the 5 rounds of his title shot.

Opponent Rob Ellick (All or Nothing - Bridgwater) fought a perfect hit and move fight which left Beale chasing throughout, looking frustrated and generally looking frustrated.

Following the 1st round it did look as though Beale would begin to close the range down and begin scoring to the body But Ellick was having none of it. Back in the corner the Bulldog Team could not get Beale to liven up and in the end Ellick was hitting at will, causing no damage but clocking up a one sided points verdict.

Congratulations to Rob Ellick who takes the belt home and can look forward to some quick defences in 2010.

Demolition: Nyzoyibuka White Collar Win!
Friday, 16 April 2010
jonesnyz.jpgThe Lonsdale White Collar Boxing Challenge went international and gave us a treat as Craig Jones and Rodrigues Nyzoyibuka (Norway) delivered measured performances to send this one to a split decision.

Nyzoyibuka had a considerable height advantage which he used in his footwork but surprisingly both men had a similar reach, allowing Jones to hit more often. That said he was also made to miss regularly and this was the difference in the contest.

Nyzoyibuka used the whole ring while Jones pressed forward looking for the stoppage at all times.

Judging this was all about how you saw the contest. Jones' aggression and persistance or Nyzoyibuka's footwork and skills.

With one judge going for Jones and two opting for Nyzoyibuka, The Norwegian took the spoils.

Jones now moves into Kickboxing which should be interesting.
